Star confident of winning Inanam seat

-

KOTA KINABALU: Star Inanam Division chief Jeffrey Kumin said the party is ready to contest the Inanam seat and is confident it can win the seat if selected.

“The party is receiving strong support from the people in the Inanam constituency,” he said in a statement yesterday in response to Sepanggar Barisan Nasional (BN) Supporters Club president Lukin Teliban’s statement published on Friday.

Kumin said hopefully by next month Gabungan Sabah would be able to finalise all the state seats, including the Inanam seat.

He said his team of leaders have been working hard visiting villages and towns to recruit new members and to conduct campaigns to explain why the people should only support local parties under Gabungan Sabah.

“Support for Star and Gabungan Sabah in Inanam has been increasing in the last three years and many voters here now realise that only local parties, especially under Gabungan Sabah, should be given the chance to represent them since they are consistent and vocal enough to speak regarding Sabah’s rights,” he said.

“Our recent Gabungan Sabah Sepanggar Division walkabouts in Telipok, Manggatal and Inanam received very positive response,” he said.

Kumin said many voters here were complaining about the rising cost of goods, the lack of employment opportunities, greatly reduced purchasing power, and the lack of business opportunities, especially among small traders.

He said the people were also complaining of the current political situation in the country, and some high profile cases on mismanagement of funds had greatly affected their businesses.

Kumin also said there were Inanam voters who complained about the lack of basic infrastructures such as treated water, bad road conditions and frequent power interruptions that had not been solved.

He added that the party and Gabungan Sabah will give their level best to address their plights and at the same time to fight for Sabahans’ rights.
