Umno Zone 6 divisions on ‘attack mode'

-

TAWAU: Umno Silam, Semporna, Tawau and Kalabakan will be on ‘attack mode' by going into villages and islands to counter lies spread by the opposition.

Following a special meeting by Umno Zone 6 which comprises the four Umno parliamentary areas to prepare its machinery for the 14th General Election, its chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Ghapur Salleh said all the four divisions are ready to take on the opposition parties, especially Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

“At the moment, Warisan especially has been spreading lies on issues of Umno leaders. We will go into every village and island to curb these lies spread by the opposition, especially by Warisan president Datuk Shafie, who has said many lies about the state and federal governments,” he said yesterday after chairing the special meeting.

“When he (Shafie) was in the government, he praised BN, after he was sacked he goes into villages. I believe the east coast people know their dirty tactics to win in the coming general election,” he said.

Ghapur added when Shafie was in BN, everything was sweet, but after he was out of BN, everything Umno did was wrong.

“People like to listen to lies so we want to counter all these lies. I believe under the prime minister's and chief minister's leaderships, we will curb all these lies,” he said.

He said the four divisions will fly BN flags at every house in the east coast, so that the people will hear what the divisions are doing.

On candidates, Ghapur said candidate selection is the absolute right of the chief minister and the Zone Six divisions have taken an oath that it will abide by the candidates decided by the chief minister.

Present at the special meeting were State Speaker cum Balung assemblyman and Umno Tawau deputy chief Datuk Sri Panglima Syed Abas Syed Ali, Semporna Umno acting chief Datuk Sri Nasir Tun Sakaran, Silam Umno chief Datuk Mohammad Yusuf Abdal, Semporna Umno information chief Datuk Ramlee Marahaban, Umno Tawau vice chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, Silam Umno vice chief Datuk Nilwan Kabang and Umno Kalabakan deputy chief Datuk Abdul Muis Picho.
