Country will be destroyed if opposition given mandate – Shabery

-

CHUKAI: The country will collapse if Pakatan Harapan is given the mandate to rule after the 14th generation election (GE14), said Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

He said this could be seen through the “shadow’ allocation of seats by the opposition, which was unfair.

“Whatever happens, Pakatan (Harapan) is not stable because there is no dominant party leading the pact, and for certain, there is going to be a power struggle for the post of prime minister, although it has nominated Tun Mahathir as the prime minister candidate (if Pakatan wins),” he said.

Ahmad Shabery said this in response to an announcement by Pakatan Harapan yesterday on the nomination of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as deputy prime minister.

Pakatan also announced its allocation of parliamentary seats, comprising 52 for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, PKR (51), DAP (35) and Parti Amanah Negara (27).

“Although Pakatan Harapan nominated Tun Mahathir as prime minister, certainly the party which wins the most seats will question the matter because in the end only the party that wins will get support and decides who will be the prime minister,” he said.
