Village roads in sorry state – Bosi
KOTA KINABALU: Kapayan assemblyman Dr Edwin Bosi has reminded the government to practise its ‘Rakyat Didahulukan’ or ‘People First’ slogan.
“I am reminding the government because I am seeing and receiving so many complaints from the people,” the Parti Anak Negeri Penampang chief said.
“One of the most common complaints are about the condition of the roads in the villages in Moyog and Kapayan constituencies. I can vouch for their complaints because I have personally walked around the villages to distribute my political leaflets. I am saddened to see the poor road conditions in the villages. I think the government’s rural infrastructure development program is a failure, at least in Penampang,” Bosi asserted.
He said he would like to highlight the problem of potholes in the road as they are not only an irritant but can also cause costly damages to small vehicles and fatal accidents.
“It is inconceivable to see so many potholes on the road in the urban areas. The most glaring problem is at the roundabout to Kg Kibabaig before the polyclinic. The others are the deep potholes at Bandar Baru Penampang, the road leading to Kg Dontozidon. These are just the tip of the iceberg,” he said.
“The other complaint is from the people who are affected by the widening of the Putatan river. According to them, the flooding in Penampang has nothing to do with the size of the present river.“They felt that the flooding is caused by the overall poor drainage system,’ he said.
