Abandoned boy’s grandfather brings him back to Indonesia

-

SIBU: A disabled boy, whose Indonesian mother abandoned him in 2015, has finally gone back to Indonesia with his grandfather.

Wong Lang Ing, who has been caring for seven-year-old Endronee, said the boy’s grandfather came yesterday following assistance from the Consulate-General of Indonesia in Kuching.

Wong’s connection with Endronee began when she lived with his mother in a rented house in Pedada Road in 2015.

“I was asked to look after the boy, who can’t talk and walk properly. For the first two months, the mother paid me for looking after her boy. In the third month, she told me to wait till she received her salary.

“But, that was it. I lost touch with her since,” she explained.

Wong pointed out she has had to look after Endronee even though she struggled to make ends meet for her own family.

“My two children, aged 12 and 15, helped to look after the boy when I was out working as a driver,” she said.

Wong said sometimes she had to seek help from her neighbour to look after the boy.

“I tried all ways to contact Endronee’s mother or father, believed to be a local man, to return the boy to them but all efforts were in vain.

“I then sought the help of a local agent dealing with Indonesian maids, and managed to get the Indonesian Consul-General to get in touch with the boy’s grandfather,” she added.
