Sabah PH chief confident in seatsharing negotiation with Warisan
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Pakatan Harapan chairman Christina Liew is confident that “a spirit of give and take will prevail” in the ongoing seat-sharing deal negotiation between the PH alliance and Parti Warisan Sabah.
She said the deal would likely be finalised just before nomination day for the coming 14th general election (GE14).
There was a consensus among PH, which comprises the PKR, DAP and Amanah and Warisan, said Liew to the media after a walkabout in Luyang area to distribute invitations to PH’s inaugural Chinese New Year open house in Penampang on Feb 28.
She was accompanied Sabah DAP secretary cum Sri Tanjung assemblyman Chan Foong Hin.
Liew, who is also the Api Api assemblywoman, acknowledged that not everybody would be happy but the PH and Warisan shared the same objective of wanting to change the present Barisan Nasional (BN) government.
She said the seat deal negotiation was not as sticky as some quarters perceived it.
“We need to be logical on how we approach it and I am confident a spirit of give and take will prevail,” she said, adding that PH and Warisan leaders would also have to look at things like seat swapping in their negotiations.
On her assessment of the current political scenario in Sabah, Liew reckoned that there is a prevailing mood for change among town folk as well as people in the rural areas.
“We have gone to areas like Kudat, Pitas and Kadamaian and the people there want to see change,” the Sabah PKR head claimed.
