Keningau Umno Youth chief to help Keningau fire victims

-

KENINGAU: A family whose house was destroyed by last year’s fire at Kampung Limbawan here caught the attention of Keningau Umno Youth chief Nik Nazri Nik Zawawi.

Head of family Registly Siangon @ Ghazali Haji Ahmad and his family members are now living in a semi-burnt and unsafe house since his house was destroyed by fire on February 13 last year.

Another fire victim Jinieh Antikah whose house was burnt in December 2016 is still waiting for his request for a house under the Poor People Housing Program (PPRT).

Nik Nazri, who visited the family of Registly Siangon recently, told The Borneo Post here on Wednesday that he would bring the documents and application form from the victim directly to the Rural and Regional Development Ministry in Putrajaya to get a house under PPRT.

“This is the first proposal I have made for the well-being of this family,” he said.

He said the second proposal was to seek for funds or donations from companies or individuals.

Nik Nazri had sourced for funds to help a fire victim, Imam Asni in ApinApin recently, and an individual donated RM10,000 worth of building materials for the victim’s family to start building a new home.

During a visit to Registly, Nik Nazri donated cash and handed over donated clothes from the Keningau Bundles Association.

Meanwhile, Kampung Limbawan Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) chairman Rosdie Razalie Johnton when contacted on Wednesday said JKKK had already taken action according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

He said JKKK had applied for the construction of PPRT houses for both victims through a letter dated 17 March 2017 to Liawan assemblyman Datuk Haji Sairin Karno and the Keningau District Office.

“In the letter, I have listed both the victims, Jinieh Antikah and Registly Siangon who are both listed with e-Kasih.

“I was also informed that Sairin, who is also the Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry and head of Keningau Umno Division, had taken action on the applications of both the victims,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jinieh and Registly appealed to the District Office through their respective letters dated October 13 and October 16 last year.

Rosdie said Jinieh Antikah’s house was destroyed in December 2016 while Registly Siangon’s house was destroyed by fire in February 2017.

He also urged the relevant authorities, especially the District Office, to assist both fire victims as they were already listed with e-kasih and had no jobs and income.
