National BN to use Sarawak’s winning formula in GE14 — Zahid
KUALA LUMPUR: The Barisan Nasional (BN) will be adopting the winning formula used by Sarawak BN during its landslide victory in the 2016 state election.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the formula had been effective in winning hearts for the state BN, thus national BN will take a leaf from the formula for the coming 14th general election (GE14) to obtain an overwhelming victory.
“Although our efforts are undermined by the other group (opposition) we are looking to collaborate fully with our BN component members by learning from what we have in Sarawak.
“If we work hard and work smart, it is not impossible to achieve a very overwhelming victory,” he said in his welcoming speech during an evening with a delegation from the Journalists Association of Kuching Division (KDJA) at his office in Putrajaya, led by its chairperson Jacqueline Atiqah David yesterday.
He stated that the Sarawak BN formula would be part of the election strategy to counter the propaganda and onslaught of the opposition parties during the election.
“The other side feel they can take over the government and even win with two-thirds majority.
“But I will prove them wrong in this matter,” said the Home Minister.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid urged all media practitioners in the country to adopt the positive coverage as practised in Sarawak, which was one of the key factors for Sarawak BN to storm to victory in the 11th state election, securing a comfortable two-thirds majority in the state assembly with 72 seats.
He noted that the media had played an important role in creating a good perception of the government for voters to make their decision.
