ALOR SETAR: Malaysia’s women’s team is ready to take any squads in the quarter-finals of the 2018 Badminton Team Asia Championships (BATC) held at Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium, Suka Menanti, here.

The national women shuttlers who have already qualified for the quarter-finals after recording two consecutive wins over Vietnam and Philippines, were runners-up after losing to Thailand in the last group Y match yesterday.

Doubles player, Vivian Hoo who partnered Tee Jing Yi after Woon Khe Wei suffered an injury during their first match, said the women’s team came prepared for the championships which was also the qualifying round for Thomas/Uber Cup this year.

“Actually, when we came here... our team is ready to face anyone,” she said.

Commenting on her new partner, Jing Yi who is former women’s singles player, Vivian said their combination is getting better in the tournament.

In yesterday’s match, Vivian Jing Yi upset the Thai pair of Chayanit Chaladchalam-Phataimas Muenwong in the rubber game in 21-19, 16-21, 2119 to level the point at 1-1 after Soniia Cheah failed to deliver the first point.

Meanwhile, Soniia believed that she would bounce back in the quarter-finals tomday.

“I still believe I can bounce back and play better tomorrow.

“Today, I feel that I did not play into my game. I can’t find the rhythm and of course my opponent played better than me,” added the 24-year-old shuttler. Bernama
