Perfect start for Fung at World Super Six Golf Tournament

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian pro golfer, Nicholas Fung got off to a good start by firing a 67 in the opening round in the ISPS Handa World Super Six Golf Tournament in Perth, Australia, today.

The 27-year-old Sabahan traded three birdies against two bogeys in the front nine but fought back with four birdies in the back nine to share fourth place with eight others in the tournament at Lake Karrinyup Country Club in Perth, Western Australia.

Speaking afterwards, Fung was happy with his performance as this is the third time he played in the same golf course, while praising the perfect condition in the morning which was less breezy and helped him to shoot a low score.

“When I was here two days ago, the greens were pretty wet, but the groundsmen managed to dry it up prior to the tournament,” he was quoted in the Asian Tour website;www.asiantour.com.

“I’ve been striking the ball well. Putting is my problem but today it seems that it is working. Which is why I made seven birdies today,” quipped Fung who claimed his first victory at the 2017 Queen’s Cup in Thailand.

Another Malaysian player, Ben Leong came in joint 146th with two other players – David Smail of New Zealand and Germany’s Marcel Schneider with a 77.
