JOHOR BAHRU: Johor Police have crippled the ‘360 Gang’ after arresting 35 of its members in a large-scale nationwide operation in December last year and seizing assets worth over RM6.5 million.

Johor Police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said yesterday the operation was carried out following a murder at the Taman Pelangi Shell Petrol Station on Dec 17.

“The case was solved and our investigation unearthed the gang’s network. All the suspects arrested are Malaysian men aged between 20 and 69.

“Investigations revealed that the gang was active for over 20 years, dealing in drugs, violence and smuggling,” he told a media conference at the Johor Police headquarters here.

Mohd Khalil said the Bukit Aman Anti-Money Laundering Investigation Team had also frozen and seized property worth over RM6.5 million belonging to the gang encompassing seven luxury vehicles, four real estate properties, 73 accounts at numerous financial institutions, six branded wristwatches and currency notes of various countries.

He said the gang was also linked to the brutal murder at the Taman Pelangi Shell service station.

Up to now, he said, the police had identified more than 100 members of the gang and were on the hunt for them.

“We have arrested 35 senior members and new recruits. We are on the hunt for the remnants who we believe have fled to other states and abroad.

“Our investigation also shows that the gang has been actively recruiting new members to extend its influence in an attempt to garner material benefits,” he said.

Mohd Khalil said all the suspects were arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA) and would be charged in court today. - Bernama
