PUTRAJAYA: The remand against three individuals for investigation in a corruption case involving landscape maintenance work, worth RM44 million, which allegedly took place between 2013 and 2017, has been extended for four days until Feb 14.

Magistrate Izzatul Nawarrah Idrus issued the order to extend the remand on the three individuals following an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The three comprised a 44-yearold deputy general manager of UEM Sunrise and two contractors, aged 51 and 62.

Meanwhile, four others who were remanded with them early this week were released on MACC bail yesterday.

They are a 55-year-old project director at UEM Sunrise, a 34year-old female assistant of the deputy general manager and two contractors, aged 44 and 47.

According to media reports, the deputy general manager and the project director were understood to have ensured that landscape contracts under their supervision, that were worth RM44 million, were awarded to eight companies through e-bidding, one-off contract and maintenance.

It also reported that a dubious payment of more than RM2.4 million was banked into the account of the deputy general manager and his wife by four companies through four proxies. - Bernama
