Pink Ribbon receives support to fight breast cancer
TAWAU: Tawau Kinabalu Pink Ribbon (TKPR) is truly grateful and appreciated Nicole Kho and her Umamalo Line Dance for raising money and making contribution to the Pink Ribbon Association.
TKPR chairlady Christy Fe Salazar said this would definitely help TKPR to continue its objective to fight against breast cancer and to raise the level of awareness.
During their visit to TKPR office recently, Nicole said they would try to help the association and hope to give something back to the community. She realized that breast cancer had roped many lives lately and something seriously need to be done.
Christy said they had been a very good supporter of TKPR Pinktober Run each year where she encouraged all of her dancers to join in the event in fighting against breast cancer.
On behalf of TKPR, Christy said the association was truly grateful for this kind of support and generous contribution.
As for this year, she said TKPR had lined up its awareness events, programs and roadshows with the objective of promoting public awareness of this dreaded disease.
“We will be working again very closely with Tawau medical professionals to educate our local community on the importance of early detection and seeking the right medical attention,” she said.
She said wherever they went on roadshow, they spread the word that one in 19 Malaysian women would be diagnosed with breast cancer.
“Though many of us come from different backgrounds, different beliefs and races and socio economics ... one thing for sure, everybody really wants the same thing, that is good health,” she said.
Christy said cancer is not a death sentence but rather it is a life sentence, it pushes one to live. Breast cancer can be cured.
“I am one of the million breast cancer survivors out there, doing well and try to inspire others. Now, making connection with other patients and giving support to others is the most rewarding,” she said and called on women to join her to support Pink Ribbon, a symbol for breast cancer awareness.
