No issue on race, religion in Sabah — Musa
TAWAU: There is no issue on race and religion in Sabah as the people respect each other’s cultures and religions, said Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman.
Musa said he was invited to many Chinese New Year celebrations throughout Sabah and he saw people from every race, ethnic and religion come to celebrate together in unity and harmony.
“Today so many came, in Sabah there is no issue on race, religion, ethnic and all respect each other, respect festivals of others and I hope the celebration can unite the people further as the most important thing is to develop the country,” he said when visiting Sabah United Chinese Chamber of Commerce secretary Lo Su Fui’s Chinese New Year (CNY) open house yesterday.
Musa who also visited the Tawau Parliament CNY open house and bundle clothing factory Hock Tat’s CNY open house, said not only the Chinese came but all the races came to celebrate together.
He also thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak for establishing the Eastern Sabah Security Command to look after the security of Sabah so the people can live and celebrate the many festivals in Sabah in a peaceful atmosphere.
Musa said in Sabah there are so many ethnics and religions, but the most important thing is that the people can live in peace.
Also present at Lo’s CNY open house were State Speaker Datuk Syed Abas Syed Ali, Kalabakan member of parliament Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Ghapur Salleh, Sebatik assemblyman Datuk Abdul Muis Picho, Tawau Municipal Council president Alijus Sipil and former Tawau member of parliament Shim Paw Fatt.
