Time for change of MP for Bandar Kuching, says Dr Sim

-

KUCHING: Bandar Kuching constituents are urged to return their support to Barisan Nasional (BN) in the coming 14th General Election for a better and stronger Sarawak.

SUPP president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said it is high time the constituency has a change in its member of parliament (MP) who has been there “for too long.”

“The YB has been here for too long and he is a millionaire now. His combined monthly salary for both his MP and state ADUN (elected representative) posts are RM50,000 thus earning him an annual income of RM600,000.

“In five years, he earns an income of RM3 million. So isn't he a millionaire?” the Local Government and Housing Minister said at SUPP Kuching Branch Chinese New Year Open House at the branch's premises at Jalan Sungai Padungan here yesterday.

The Bandar Kuching seat is currently held by state DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen, who is also Kota Sentosa assemblyman.

Hinting that with the general election “about eight to nine weeks to go”, Dr Sim called on Bandar Kuching voters to bring forth change by voting BN this coming election.

“It's time to change the YB who ‘tengok sahaja' (look only),” he said, uttering his favourite catchphrase which he often used to describe the opposition for not walking their talk.

He pointed out that a win for BN in Bandar Kuching was not just to wrest the parliament constituency back for the coalition but also for a stronger Sarawak.

“It is very important for Sarawak to win all 31 seats in the coming general election to make sure we are a stronger Sarawak and to do so, we need to start working now.”

He also urged the people not to be misled by the opposition this time around.

“In BN Sarawak, the presidents of its component parties are Sarawakians and therefore will fight for our rights. In DAP, the party's president and secretarygeneral are from Peninsular Malaysia. Do you think (they) will not fight for more for Penang?” he said of DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang and secretarygeneral Lim Guan Eng who are from Penang.
