Sabah women’s futsal squad win opening two games
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah women’s futsal team opened with two wins in the National Futsal League 2018 at the Panasonic Sports Complex in Shah Alam, Selangor over the weekend.
The Rosmadih Waslicoached side defeated Negeri Sembilan 3-0 in the first game on Saturday with goals from Haindee Mosroh, JI Fedilliah Claritta Jaimin and Shereillyn Elly Pius.
The state squad then followed it up with a 2-1 victory over PDRM yesterday where Haindee and Masturah Majid were on the scoresheet for Sabah.
Rosmadih contributed the wins to great team work and disciplined displays from the players.
“I’m happy collecting the maximum six points despite playing on Saturday night and then in the morning of Sunday.
“The players looked tired but that did not stop them from giving their best performance... the victories were well deserved,” said Rosmadih in a text message yesterday.
The other players in the travelling party were Jaciah Jamilus, Pedrolia Martin Sikayun, Eslilah Esar, Usliza Usman, Lovella Julie Jelus, A Nuraziela Ali Jainal, Effy Norizan Musinan, Sharmilla Natasha Jani, Asma Junaidi and Tesslonica Angel Stanislaus.
Meanwhile, Rosmadih said the consecutive wins served as a motivation for the players to work even harder and improve to face future fixtures.
The victories assured Sabah of occupying the two top spots after the first week of competitions, especially when KL Felda United FC and Selangor United MPSJ, who also won their opening matches, faced each other in the other game yesterday.
“It is certainly a good start for the team but we have still a long way to go in the season. We need to keep training hard to keep our winning momentum.
“We will focus to smoothen our counter-attacking moves as well as to tighten the defence when under pressure from the opponents,” he said.
Sabah face tougher opponents when they return to action on March 31 against Selangor MPSJ and on April 1 against Felda United.
“These two teams are among the strongest in the league but we will be ready for them...we will give our utmost best,” Rosmadih added.
The league is an eight-team tournament played over two legs, all at the Panasonic Sports Complex.
The other teams are Perak, KL Imigresen FC and Sarawak.
