False report: Actor to be charged today
SHAH ALAM: Actor and film director Datuk Farid Kamil will be charged at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court today for lodging a false report relating to a drug case he is facing.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief, SAC Fadzil Ahmat said Farid Kamil whose real name is Farid Kamil Zahari, 37, would be charged under Section 192 of the Penal Code.
“The case was referred to the Selangor Legal Advisor which instructed that he be charged under Section 192 of the Penal Code for the offence of fabricating false evidence,” he told reporters.
Fadzil was met after the monthly gathering of the Selangor Police Contingent which was officiated by Selangor Police chief Datuk Mazlan Mansor here today.
On Feb 4, Farid Kamil lodged a police report claiming that three friends had spiked his drink with drugs, causing him to become violent.
However, in a press conference held in Shah Alam several days later, he claimed that two individuals who were sought by the police to help in the investigations into his case were not the people he mentioned.
He said the names and photos of the two individuals were handed over to the police when the report was made, but the investigations were conducted on different people.
On Jan 16, Farid who is the husband of popular local actress Datin Diana Danielle pleaded not guilty to four charges, including voluntarily causing hurt, using criminal force and disorderly conduct by uttering improper words at the Kota Damansara Police Station.
