Pakatan Harapan manifesto unrealistic and illogical – Kurup

-

NABAWAN: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president Tan Sri Joseph Kurup described the manifesto launched by Pakatan Harapan (PH) as unrealistic and illogical.

“If we look at its manifesto, it tries to abolish the Goods and Services Tax (GST) while this GST is a good tax which will increase income of the country,” he told reporters after opening the Nabawan Health Camp here yesterday.

He said the government had spent the GST revenue on national development and the implementation of projects for the wellbeing of the people.

In addition, he said the government, through GST, had provided various forms of assistance to the people such as the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M), early schooling assistance, 1Malaysia Book vouchers, free medicines and more.

Kurup, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, added if PH abolished GST, the country would lose its source of income and the country could become bankrupt.

He said the people could see that all countries in the world had already implemented GST.

“The PH manifesto to establish a National Consultation and Harmonization Council has already been implemented by the government in 2013 by creating a National Consultation and Unity Council (MKPN).

“The Prime Minister has been looking forward to uniting the multi-racial community in our country with the implementation of MKPN. The council is in the process of preparing a blueprint of the National Unity Plan as a complement to the National Unity, Integrity and National Integration Plan,” he said.

According to the Pensiangan member of parliament, the manifesto launched by PH will create confusion for the community.

Kurup believes the Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto to be launched by the Prime Minister will be better and more comprehensive.

During the event, a total of 2,000 free glasses were provided and 10 hearing aids were donated by Kurup.

Some 500 people, including District Officer Fredian Gan, PBRS deputy president Arthur Joseph Kurup and Nabawan Health Department officers attended the event.
