KOTA KINABALU: Ir Simon SK Goh has been re-elected the chairman of Technological Association of Malaysia (TAM) Sabah Branch for session 20182019 at its 21st Annual General Meeting yesterday.

Among those on the board of directors are first and second Vice-Chairman Tan Heng Ah and Ir. Lee Wai Ling, secretary David Chung Jia Jiunn and treasurer Wong Thien Pin.

Completing the board are Technical Visit Committee Chairman Ir. Sham Chee Kin, Non-technical Visit Committee Chairman Willian Tong, Publicity Committee Chairman Ir. Jacob N N Yan, and Committee Member Ong Keng Hwa and Neoh Chee Seong.

In his speech at the AGM, Simon encouraged all the TAM members to register with the Malaysia Board of Technologies (MBOT) as Professional Technologist or Certified Technician and to help promote the registration campaign of MBOT in Sabah.

“Technologists and technicians now have a clearer path towards gaining recognition through membership registration with the Malaysia Board of Technologists. MBOT recognises technologists and technicians as professions which will be able to show the prestigious side of technology, together with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which are important elements that will help weather the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and drive the National Transformation 2050 (TN50),” Simon said.

Industrial Revolution 4.0 is the meeting point of technology between the physical and virtual world. This revolution has also raised concerns that human labour might soon be replaced by technology.

On the other note, Simon announced that the TAM National Annual Dinner would be held in April 2019 and a pipeline of technical seminars and site visits would be organised.

TAM is an organisation for all levels and disciplines of technologists, from the professionals to students and everyone whose career is technological in nature. It is intimately concerned with the advances in technological progress as well as the pursuit of knowledge in the field of technology.

The association also aims to bring about a clearer understanding and appreciation of technology and to instill among members an impelling desire to achieve professional competence and the highest standard of technological skills.

Having a very wide range of membership, it is the melting pot of technological exchanges amongst members from many walks of life. It provides a forum for discussion, evaluation of technological issues and advances.
