Kristen Wiig to play Cheetah in ‘Wonder Woman’ sequel
PATTY Jenkins has confirmed what the internet has been whispering for about a week. Kristen Wiig has signed on to play classic DC Comics villain The Cheetah in “Wonder Woman’s” soon-to-be-inproduction 2019 sequel.
The director verified the news on social media, tweeting that she’s excited for the casting and can’t wait to work with Wiig on her transformation into one of Wonder Woman’s greatest adversaries.

most thrilling news,” Jenkins tweeted. “Yes! It’s true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can’t wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned.”
Wonder Woman herself also chimed in on the announcement, as Gal Gadot quoted Jenkins’ tweet on Friday and added her own message.
With casting confirmed, the question turns to what version of Cheetah will be incorporated into DC’s cinematic universe.
As with many comic book characters, Cheetah has seen different forms since her introduction in 1943.
Other rumours are swirling around the highlyanticipated Warner Bros./ DC Entertainment sequel, including a potential setting in the ‘80s during the Cold War and Chris Pine’s possible return as Steve Trevor (perhaps in a flashback). But Wiig’s casting is the first major confirmation of the “Wonder Woman” sequel, which could begin filming as early as this May, in preparation for a Nov 1, 2019 release.
Gadot will return as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince under the direction of Jenkins, who will be continuing Hollywood’s first major female superhero franchise — which will also now have a female villain as well. — WP-Bloomberg
