-

TAWAU: About 100 members of Rotary Club of Tawau and invited guests celebrated Rotary International Night with the theme “Harmony Through Fellowship” at a hotel here on recently.

Rotary Club of Tawau president, Leung Kok Yau said the celebration was aimed at fostering good relations among all the nationals in the world.

Leung said their club has different nationalities like Kadazans, Chinese, Malays, Filipinos, Indians, Pakistani and Americans.

“The best way to create harmony is through fellowship. They, like many other clubs, also have a fair share of minor conflict or disagreement and gossip among members too.

“I would say it’s healthy because without some infighting, conflict and gossip it will be a rather boring club. I would not like to join such a boring club.

“As president, I must not take sides but to keep it at a manageable level to ensure harmony,” he said.

According to him, racial and religious conflict must never be given a chance to rear its ugly head.

“These when started are about the hardest to control and to maintain harmony,” he said.

During the night, District Governor Datuk Lee Chuen Wan inducted three new members Mona Lu Meen Na, Chi Chee Woei and Lim Shan Yie.
