Ziana Zain in tears during performance
PETALING JAYA: Local artiste Ziana Zain broke down in tears while performing at a corporate event here recently, but resolved to continue her set despite being overwhelmed by her emotions.
Ziana had to stop her performance midway to wipe away some tears while singing the romantic number Puncak Kasih at a hotel on Saturday (March 10), The Star’s Malay-language portal mStar reported.
The audience appeared to understand the personal ordeal she was going through and started giving her words of support.
Ziana told the audience that as a strong woman, she would persevere and continue her work despite trying times.
“I’m strong and thank you all for your support. It isn’t easy to become a public figure. But no matter what happens, life must go on,” she was quoted as saying.
Ziana’s husband Armin Zaharin, 53, is facing a heavier penalty after his charge for allegedly causing hurt to their 10-year-old son after the prosecution was amended on Thursday (March 8).
The magistrate granted the prosecution’s application to amend the charge against him to Section 324, read together with 326A of the Penal Code. The accused was initially charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of 10 years’ jail, or with a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments on conviction.
Section 326A provides for double the maximum jail sentence stated in Section 324. Armin is accused of caning the victim at a house in Denai Alam here between 8pm and 11.30pm on Feb 24.
