JDT back on top in Super League

KUALA LUMPUR: Four-time champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) wrested back the lead in this season’s Super League after edging Terengganu FC 1-0 at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah, Kuala Terengganu Saturday night.

The solitary goal by Brazilian import Marcos Antonio Elias Santos in the 29th minute saw the Southern Tigers collecting 12 points overall after five matches.

Pahang buried Negeri Sembilan 4-0 at the Darul Makmur Stadium, Kuantan to grab second spot with 10 points overall, the same as PKNS FC, but having a superior goal difference.

Brazilian import Patrick Dos Santos Cruz put The Elephants ahead in the 26th minute before their Liberian striker Francis Forkey Doe doubled the advantage at the end of halftime.

Santos and Doe were again on target for coach Dollah Salleh in the 65th and 88th minutes.

At the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur came from behind 1-2 in a seven-goal thriller to edge Kedah 4-3.

The City Boys drew first blood with Mohd Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak scoring as early the third minute but Kedah’s Spanish import Pablo Pallares Marzo equalised seven minutes later.

Then it was Kedah’s turn to take the lead when Liridon Krasniqi scored in the 50th minute only to see Brazilian Guilherme de Paula Lucrecio equalising via a penalty in the 62nd minute after Mohd Zaquan Adha was brought down in the box by Kedah captain, Khairul Helmi Johari.

The back and forth continued with Brazilian Paulo Josue scoring for KL in the 82nd minute before Pallares again disappoint­ed the hosts in the 90th.

However, Ashri Chuchu ensured the hosts picked up full points when he fired home the winner in injury time.

In the Premier League, UiTM FC and Felcra FC played to a 1-1 draw at Stadium UiTM, Shah Alam with Argentinia­n import Lucas Ramon Pugh on the mark for UiTM FC in the 43rd minute while Shahrom Kalam found the equaliser in the 93rd minute off a penalty after UiTM FC keeper Soffuan Tawil brought down Leonardo Moreira Carvalho in the box.

At the Selayang Stadium, Terengganu FC II edged Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) FC with goals supplied by French import Redouane Zerzouri in the 6th minute for the hosts while Hasbullah Awang and Brazilian Bruno Suzuki replied for the visitors in the 32nd and 85th minutes. - Bernama
