Tech of the week Sony’s new MDR-1AM2 headphones deliver uncompromised hi-res sound on the move
SONY Electronics’s (Sony) latest in Hi-Resolution headphones, the MDR-1AM2 brings a host of new and improved features, redefining the premium headphones industry.
Building from the MDR-1A headphones that launched in 2014, the MDR-1AM2 features high quality listening experiences, and improved sound systems.
“At Sony, we are committed to bringing high quality sound to consumers,” said Sony Electronics, North America Mobile Audio Business, Home Entertainment and Sound director, and head Dunja LaRosa.
“Reviving Sony’s classic headphones, the MDR-1AM2 is a testament to this commitment, playing back music as the artist intended and delivering consumers the ability to enjoy high quality music, regardless of their location.”
Extending its Hi-Res credentials even further, the new MDR-1AM2 is compatible with up to 100 kHz frequencies playback, and have a newly developed 40mm HD driver unit so users can enjoy full-bandwidth sound.
The aluminum-coated liquid crystal polymer diaphragms support every fine distinction with perfect reproduction. The 1AM2s feature a Fibonacci patterned grill to support ultra-high frequency ranges as well as silver-coated OFC (oxygen free copper) for less transmission signal loss.
Like the MDR-Z1R, the MDR1AM2 headphones come with a standard cable as well as a 4.4mm balanced connection for even greater sound and improved usability.
The headphones are also lighter than its previous model – a great advantage whether you are wearing them at home or on the go. With this pair you can enjoy wearing your around-ear headphones for longer, with ear pads that have been specially designed for lasting comfort.
The comfortable synthetic leather ear pads are made of lowresilience polyurethane foam.
