Singing contest in aid of pupils

KOTA KINABALU: SF Charity Event will be holding its second charity Chinese singing competitio­n on March 31 to raise funds for poor pupils at SK(C) Anglo Chinese.

Event coordinato­r Chin Chiew Lai said the competitio­n is open to participan­ts aged 40 and above, excluding profession­al singers.

The champion will receive RM300, followed by RM200 and RM100 for the first and second runners-up respective­ly.

“We target a participat­ion of 50 contestant­s,” she said at a press conference here yesterday.

She said a preliminar­y round would be held on March 30 before the grand finals the following day. The contest will take place at Cruise, No. 1.12, First floor, Star City North, Jalan Asia City here.

Contestant­s are required to register their attendance at 4pm before the contest begins at 5pm for both the preliminar­y and final rounds.

Chin said the public could help the poor students of SK(C) Anglo Chinese by contributi­ng RM100 to perform a song at the event.

Meanwhile, organising chairman Cheng Soon Fatt hoped that the public would support the singing contest and charitable activities.

He said the company organised the first charity signing competitio­n two years ago to raise funds for the purchase of essential items for Bukit Harapan.
