Photographers invited to take part in contest

TAWAU: Photographers in Sabah, especially in Tawau and surrounding areas, are invited to participate in the Pewarta’s Photography Competition - Benta Wawasan 2.0 which will be held in conjunction with the Tawau International Cultural Festival (FKAT) 2018 on March 24.

The competition is the sixth organized by Pewarta since 2012 in collaboration with the Tawau Municipal Council (TMC).

Tawau Journalist and Media Practitioner Association (Pewarta) chairman Shamry M. Sani said the total cash prizes worth some RM5,400 await the winners.

In addition to the grand prizes, he said gold, silver and bronze awards and seven consolation prizes, the Benta Wawasan Choice Special Award will also be up for grabs as in previous years, in recognition of the government-linked companies (GLCs) who sponsored the competition.

According to Shamry, the theme of the contest chosen for this year is the Contemporary Ethnic, in line with the concept of the FKAT delegation 2018.

He said the summit of FKAT 2018 will take place in TMC Square on March 24 and participants will be able to capture interesting moments during the program.

Contest forms and conditions are available at the Tawau Information Department Office, Federal House or at Restoran Ikan Goreng TNT, Bandar Baru Fajar. The closing date of entries is a week after the end of FKAT, April 2 (Monday).
