KK LASS charity fun run July 1
KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Kinabalu Lions Ambulance Service Society (LASS) will be organizing an eight-kilometre charity fun run ‘Run to Save Lives 2.0’, on July 1 this year.
The event will ta��e place starting from 6.30 am to 11 am at SJK(C) Chung Hwa Li��as.
KK LASS president, Karen Koh Eng Yan, said, the objective of the run is to raise funds for the operation and cost of the Lions Ambulance Services, to promote public awareness of the free service and to encourage healthy lifestyle.
Koh, who is also the organizing chairperson, said, the Run to Save Lives 2.0 charity fun run is targeting 3,000 runners with the hope of raising RM200,000.
A total of 17 Lions Clubs in and around Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Tuaran with some 600 members will be supporting the KK LASS initiative, the first long-term project ever underta��en jointly by these clubs.
“Since the commencement of the free emergency ambulance service in March 2011, KK LASS has responded to more than 4,000 cases and had saved many lives
“KK LASS complements the government’s effort to transform the community and health services provided to the ra��yat,” she said in a press conference here.
At present, KK LASS has two units of Class A fully equipped ambulance vans operating a 24-hour service which requires some RM250,000 annually to maintain these ambulances that are operated by qualified and well trained personnel.
Registration for the charity run is now open till May 31, 2018. Early birds who sign up by April 30 are only required to pay RM70 per person, while those who register from May 1 to May 31 would have to pay RM90 per person.
Meanwhile, participants aged 18 and below will enjoy a special fee of RM50. Runners will get a t-shirt, goodies bag and a chance for the luc��y draws.

Donation to KK LASS is tax exempted. The society appeals to the general public, companies and corporates for support, participation, donations and sponsorship to enable the smooth running of this life-saving project.
