Sabah BN manifesto April 22
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) election manifesto will be launched on April 22 at 10am at the Likas Sports Complex multi-purpose hall.
Chief Minister and Sabah BN chief Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman announced this yesterday after meeting State BN component party leaders at his official residence in Sri Gaya.
"The meeting went very well, in a friendly atmosphere. We discussed the issues in light of the coming election as a family, whereby everyone presented their views. We are unified in our cause and in facing the 14th General Election," said Musa.
Present at the meeting were PBS president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, PBRS president Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, LDP president Datuk Seri Panglima Teo Chee Kang, UPKO acting president Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau, PBS deputy president Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus J. Ongkili, Sabah Gerakan liaison chief Datuk Gordon Leong, Sabah MIC chairman Datuk V. Johty, Sabah MCA deputy chief Datuk Francis Goh, Sabah BN secretary Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Sabah BN executive secretary Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan.
Abdul Rahman, who is Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, later told reporters that not long after the launch of the State BN manifesto, he expected Musa to announce the BN candidates for the 14th General Election.
He said he assumed that when Musa announced the names, all the candidates would have at least been informed.
Asked to confirm if he would be fielded in the Sepanggar parliamentary constituency, he said: “Until and after the announcement (of candidates) is made, I will assume that I am still here (as the potential candidate for Sepanggar).
He said he had received instructions from the party to go to the ground in Sepanggar.
“But rest assured. I think the probability is quite high that I will be representing the great party of Umno in Sepanggar,” he said.
Abdul Rahman, who is the incumbent MP for Kota Belud, said that he had received requests from grassroots leaders in Kota Belud to defend the constituency.
“Obviously, if I recontest in Kota Belud, I will win comfortably because I have given 10 years of my service and ever since I became a (federal) minister, I have brought development there worth nearly RM1 billion.
“But if the party leadership tells me to go to a new constituency, I have no choice but to shoulder the responsibility to ensure BN victory in the Sepanggar constituency,” he said after launching a computerised balloting of public infrastructure maintenance projects and basic infrastructure projects for Kota Kinabalu near here.
