BN Youth manifesto focuses on next 30 years — LDP Youth

SANDAKAN: The Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth is a farsighted organisation after it formulated an election manifesto which aims not only for the next five years, but also 30 years to come.

Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Central Youth chief Tsang Hieng Yee said that the manifesto also answered the needs of the youngsters today, which showed that BN Youth was listening and was alert to the demand of the youths, and they put their needs as a priority.

“This time, the manifesto was thought out after collecting uncountable feedback from the youths, identifying and taking into consideration their aspirations, voices, dreams and concerns, and framed to target to address all these issues.

“It is a long-term commitment by the government in order to empower the youths and to improve the welfare, livelihood and wellbeing of the youths of the country.

“Particularly, the manifesto seeks to create more talented, skilled and knowledgeable youths to be able to compete in the globalised market,” Tsang said.

He also opined that BN Youth under the leadership of Khairy Jamaluddin had a bright future and would do even bigger and greater things in the future.

“This manifesto clearly shows that it is the product of a carefully thought formula which was designed to answer the needs of today's young people. It's a longterm target that not only aims for the coming five years but for the 30 years to come,” he added after attending the BN Youth Manifesto launching by Khairy in Putra World Centre, Kuala Lumpur, last Tuesday.

The BN Youth Manifesto underlined eight-point guarantee given by BN to empower the young people over the next five years.

They are the guarantee to provide job opportunity and training; increase income and skills; empower the economy of rural youths; facilitate access to start-up financing for young entrepreneurs; alleviate burden of young families; provide better quality of life; ensure fair opportunity in all segments; and to uphold the ideas of the young people for the National Transformation 2050 (TN50).

Under the guarantee to provide job opportunity and training, each youth would be assisted to secure a job within six months upon registration with the Youth Offer system.

To achieve this, BN will match the youths with national mega infrastructural projects, give incentives to social entrepreneurs to create jobs, equip over five million schoolchildren with digital skills to face the fourth industrial revolution, and ensure over a million youths to get training and career opportunities in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) area.

Under the guarantee to increase income and skills, the efforts will include providing financial aid for young workers to learn new skills online or to purchase workrelated computer software, besides reducing the nation's dependency on foreign workers to 15 percent from the total manpower and creating a new wave of rural entrepreneurs.

Other initiatives include expanding digital economy to rural areas, providing marriage aid to young couple to get married, and increasing the number of affordable, rentable and transit houses.
