Abdul Rahman dominates Papar Golf Tournament

KOTA KINABALU: Abdul Rahman Nasib emerged as overall champion in the P.175 Papar Golf Tournament, which ended at the Sutera Harbour Golf and Country Club (SHGCC) here recently.

The victory was achieved on countback (OCB) as Rahman edged nearest rival Idris Mohammad, who also carded nine-over 81, to lift the Datuk Hajah Rosnah Haji Abd Rashid Shirlin Trophy.

Idris also came home a winner as he won the overall Gross category by beating Haji Zamri Moktar, who posted 82 while third place went to Ag Mohd She Pg Damit with 84.

In the Nett category, Mohd Azizul Rosun Khan was the overall winner with one-under 71 while Azmi Awang Talip placed second via OCB, beating David Seow after both carded identical scores of 72.

Hajah Rokiah Daud was the winner of the Ladies’ category with her effort of level par 72 nett score. Second placed Hajah Magda Dawood was seven-shot behind while third place went to Zaibah Haji Matali, who played 84 nett.

Shamsuri Haji Mohamad won the Senior title with 71 nett, followed by Awg Azli Yusof and Murtaza Haji Manap.

The Super Senior category winner was Amirsah Sabtu, edging Haji Abd Rahman Parhang via OCB with both playing 72. Joseph Roman was third with 73 nett.

In the VIP section, the top three golfers shared the nett score of 72 and after OCB, the winner in order were ACP Saiman Kasran, Datuk Dr Haji Yusof Yaakob and Datuk Jasri Matjakir.

Abd Halikun Jun was victorious in the Invitees section with a score of 69 nett, followed by Sakka Nirdin (70 nett) and Sudin Maji (71 nett).

Tournament patron Rosnah, tournament advisor I Datuk Juil Nuatim, tournament advisor II Pengiran Saifuddin Pengiran Tahir and organising chairman Daud Alan presented the prizes to the winners.

A total of 140 golfers took part in the tournament.
