BN will win in Libaran — MP

-

SANDAKAN: Incumbent Libaran Member of Parliament, Datuk Juslie Ajirol is confident that Barisan Nasional (BN) will win the seat again this coming election.

He said his team had been working hard going to the ground since the last election.

“We have been working hard for five years so I have high confidence that BN is going to win in Libaran again,” he said.

Juslie told The Borneo Post that he is positive as to whom the BN leadership is going to choose to be the next candidate, and he indicated that he will be fighting for the seat if he is chosen as candidate for the Libaran Parliamentary seat.

“It is up to the BN leadership to decide,” he added.

Juslie also said that the BN and Umno election machinery has been ready since a year ago to face the coming election.

Juslie has been Libaran MP for 19 years after he won the seat in GE 1999, 2004, 2008, and the last election in 2013. He won by a majority of 11,586 votes in the last election in which he obtained 19,584 votes, against Mohd Serman Hassnar from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (7,998 votes); independent candidate, Sahar Saka (3,219 votes) and Rosnah Unsari from STAR (502 votes).

Libaran is hardly considered a ‘hot seat’ because members of opposition parties were less active in the area. The locals assume it is because the parliamentary has the Sungai Sibuga state seat which is held by incumbent Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman.

Libaran currently has around 47,000 registered voters.
