Help for local squatters in Sepanggar

-

KOTA KINABALU: Efforts are being made to help local squatters in Sepanggar resolve their problem, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan.

“I am meeting Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman on Tuesday to resolve the issue of Kampung Numbak, Kampung Selambangun, Kampung Kebagu and Kampung Kuala Menggatal among others,” he said.

Abdul Rahman who is tipped off to be Barisan Nasional's (BN) candidate for Sepanggar said this when met after officiating at the ‘Karnival KEMAS4U Pendidikan Kemahiran' at Kampung Likas here yesterday.

The meeting will also look at resolving some issue with regard to water supply in Karambunai, Kampung Lindung, Kampung Bakasan and other areas, he said.

When asked about the squatter problem in Sepanggar, Abdul Rahman described the situation as ‘a bit daunting'.

“It also creates a bit of headache for us because of the nature of the geography of the area. We will find ways to resolve the problem for those who do not have proper kampung status.

“We will resolve this because these are legitimate people (living in these areas), they are strong supporters of the government. I think there needs to be a strong move to give them a final solution to their problems,” said Abdul Rahman.
