‘Doors of opportunity in Malaysia – UK’
“Many doors of opportunity have been opened to me, both in Malaysia and the UK. I am currently working in Glasgow, Scotland, under a graduate scheme with a role in project management in BAE Systems. I am extremely grateful to Heriot-Watt for what had been an amazing university journey,” she said.
First-year MEng (Hons) Petroleum Engineering student Reyshienee d/o A Vana Muthuis also grateful for the opportunity to study at Heriot-Watt.
“Petroleum engineering has been my goal since I was 15. To my delight, the course here provides comprehensive coverage of the field of engineering which encompasses mechanical engineering, geology, chemical engineering and petroleum engineering. We are never bored as our course consists of practical sessions such as lab sessions and site visits, and theoretical teachings through lectures and workshops.”
Heriot-Watt lives up to its legacy of educational excellence by working closely with industry professionals to develop and accredit its curricula.
The university offers a myriad of foundation and undergraduate programmes, including the Foundation in Science which Reyshienee underwent in preparation for her current studies in Petroleum Engineering.
According to Heriot-Watt University Malaysia’s Head of Malaysia Foundation Programmes, Associate Professor Dr Jasmine Low, “The emphasis on the development of skills such as English literacy and critical thinking provide a good start in the overall development of the students to be successful and employable graduates in the future. Furthermore, at HeriotWatt, students will benefit from strong academic and personalised student support provided by experienced lecturers.”
