Singer Jane Zhang files for divorce after only two years
BEIJING: After dating for twelve years and being married for two years, Chinese singer Jane Zhang’s marriage is soon to be history.
News reports indicate that Jane and her husband CEO Feng Ke (Michael) are heading for a divorce. The news came as a shock to many, who had believed they would last, considering that they insisted on marriage against the wishes of Jane’s mother.
They had dated for 12 years despite an 18-year age gap that was difficult to bridge.
According to insiders, lyricist Wen Ya first hinted on the couple’s split two months ago, in a post she shared among her friends on social media.
In her post, she mentioned meeting a 24-year-old female singer in her office ten years ago. At that time, the singer apologised to her on behalf of another person for causing a work dispute, and sought for her understanding and forgiveness.
Wen Ya recalled telling her: “If you are going to stay together with that guy, I won’t be able to work with you” back then.
Years later, the female singer went on to become more successful in her career.

However, she recently approached Wen Ya again, revealing that they can now meet each other because she and the guy are no longer an item.
Wen Ya said they took the opportunity to clear the air about their longstanding feud, and Wen Ya ended the post wishing her well because she “deserves better”.
While Wen Ya never identified the person she was talking about, netizens speculated that it was Jane, as both had worked together previously on Jane’s older music and the timeline of events described by the lyricist also overlapped with what happened to Jane.
Rumours of Jane’s divorce were further fuelled earlier this year, when Jane returned home to celebrate Chinese New Year alone, with Michael nowhere in sight. To date, the singer has yet to issue an official response.
