Sabah fortunate in Najib era – Musa

-

RANAU: Sabah is fortunate under the leadership era of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak because a lot of development allocation including in the education sector is channeled to the state since he helmed the national administration, said Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman.

Musa said Najib’s concern was apparent not only to Sabah but also Sarawak when he always channeled millions of ringgit in allocation as he realised both states were large and needed considerable allocation for development projects.

Citing the example of the RM1 billion allocation to repair dilapidated schools in Sabah, Musa said there had never been a prime minister and finance minister before Najib who had given such a big allocation adding that in the era of Najib, the development of education in Sabah had been given greater attention.

“As Chief Minister, I realise that we need this development. In the era of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib (Tun Razak) it is beneficial (for Sabah) because our request (for allocation) is approved to assist the people including in education.

“The allocation (of RM1 billion to repair dilapidated schools in Sabah) is not small but the Prime Minister had granted it. He is a prime minister with a big heart,” he said in his speech when launching the state-level Teachers’ Day Celebration at the Ranau Sports Complex, here yesterday.

Also present were Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environmental Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun; Education Director-General Datuk Dr Amin Senin; and State Education Director Datuk Maimunah Suhaibul.

Musa said Sabah needed to continue to support and appreciate the efforts of the government all this while because Sabah was now on the best platform to continue to drive the physical development as well as human capital to a much higher level in the interest of the people.

“The Sabahans are smart and kind-hearted. If the government and leader were good and always helped the people, then the Sabahans would return the favour,”he added.

On the Teachers’ Day celebration, Musa said the state government expressed its appreciation and recognition to the teaching fraternity in Sabah on their outstanding commitment to churn out quality and knowledgeable human capital of integrity.

“The State Government will always give its support and assistance on whatever plans and commitment that had been and are being implemented by the Education Ministry to raise further the level of the teaching profession in the state,”he said.

At the event, Musa also presented the state-level teachers’award to two recipients namely the former Tambunan District Education Officer Kaipin Rosmin and former principal of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan St. Michael Penampang Marie Yong Pik Hua. - Bernama
