BN manifesto shows commitment to ensure safety of ESSZone folk

LAHAD DATU: The Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto which has empowered the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) proves that the party is committed to ensuring the safety of the Sabah people especially in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone).

A private sector employee Nurliana Nurdin, 28, said this commitment was very important in ensuring the security forces carry out their role and responsibility in securing the waters for the safety of the people.

“When the security forces are increased and security is enhanced, the public will look at the Esszone as a safe place to live and visited by outsiders,” she told Bernama here yesterday.

A resident Baharuddin Labahu, 28, said it was clear that Esscom was prepared to ensure Sabah's waters were protected and the people could live in peace and prosperity.

“Since Esscom was created in Sabah, it has played a key role in fighting cross-border crimes like kidnapping and smuggling.

"So, if Esscom is continued to be empowered, it is not impossible for this area to be free of crime committed in the waters,” he said.

The same views were voiced by student Noridayah Samsudin, 23, who said the manifesto empowered Esscom, in line with the trust given to the security forces to protect the country's sovereignty.

“They have a very heavy duty. So, the increase in new and sophisticated asset will allow the security forces to conduct more frequent patrols and tighter security control.

The effort to empower Esscom is one of 20 commitments made by Sabah BN in its manifesto for GE14 announced by Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman who is also state BN chairman. – Bernama
