Safari has shown ‘his true colours’ — Warisan

-

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah Youth is not surprised by the move of its exco, Safari Adnan to ditch the party in favour of Barisan Nasional (BN).

This is because the movement’s leadership had received reports from a few quarters who doubted Safari’s sincerity in Warisan, said its secretary Francis Au.

In fact, the reports claimed that Safari joined Warisan just to be a candidate in the election, said Francis in a statement yesterday.

“We are thankful that Safari had shown his true colours,” he said, adding that in the past, there were allegations that Safari was a BN agent hired by Kimanis Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Anifah Aman.

“But we, the Youth movement defended him against those allegations. Who was Safari before this? He should be thankful to the Warisan’s leadership for giving him the opportunity as well as to take on a role in implementing the party’s mission for change,” said Francis.

He said that even though Safari’s action hurt them, Warisan Youth leaders and members respected the latter’s decision to join BN.

According to him further, Safari’s action shows that he is a person who has no political stand.

“Before joining BN, Safari has been openly criticising BN especially Umno leaders like Anifah. But now he has joined BN so this means that the allegations of him being an BN agent is true,” claimed Francis.

On Sunday, Safari who was Warisan’s Kampung Padang Darat division chief, led more than 1,000 of the party’s members from 18 of its Bongawan branches to join BN.

Safari, 47, was the sponsor for 43 branches in Bongawan. In Warisan, he held the posts of Exco Youth movement, the MA63 Secretariat and chairman of the party’s Education and Career Bureau.

Speaking to reporters after announcing their decision to join BN here on Sunday, Safari said he no longer subscribes to Warisan’s struggles which he claimed has hidden agenda.

He also claimed that Warisan’s President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal was only using the people to further his personal agenda.

The former officer with the state Education Department said, “I am of the opinion that Warisan only serves personal purpose and vendetta. Datuk Seri Shafie had said the party will contest in 60 state and 25 parliament seats in the 14th general election. The party’s leaders also said will not work with national based opposition parties. But lately every thing changed as Warisan is now working with PKR and DAP.

“To me this reflects that there is no sincerity and transparency in Warisan’s efforts to champion Sabah’s rights. When they campaign they all criticise BN leaders as well as other opposition leaders, to me if a person likes to criticise others, there is something wrong with that person.

“I have been fighting for Warisan here in Kimanis, I brought the party in here and sponsored 43 branches. Today, 18 division leaders are with me and joining BN because Warisan does not value us,” he said.
