Nizam determined to continue brother's legacy for Apas residents
TAWAU: Barisan Nasional new face for Apas state constituency in the coming 14th general election, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan who is also the younger brother of Datuk Tawfiq, was determined to continue the struggle of his brother for the people of Apas.
Nizam, 55, said his family including Datuk Tawfiq who was Apas seat incumbent for two terms was well-known and as such he has big shoes to fit.
"My late brother had carried out his duties well for 10 years as Apas assemblyman and such high hopes would also fall on my shoulder.
"What's more, I am carrying my family image and I will continue the legacy of my bother's struggle for the people of Apas,” he told Bernama here.
Tawfiq who died of cancer on March 14 was the Apas incumbent.
Nizam said he has to work extra hard to ensure an extraordinary win in Apas.
"I will focus on works which could not be settled by my brother and the items included providing basic amenities, roads, electricity and water supply,” he said.
In this regard, Nizam said he would be focusing on efforts to ensure Apas residents were not left out of any benefits including empowering youths and women in Apas as well as development in education.
"For example I want to see and give space to youths in Apas to start small business.
"Maybe we would create a youth trading site in villages in the constituency for youths to start their businesses,” he said. - Bernama
