Osman confident of BN win in Balung

-

TAWAU: Datuk Osman Jamal is confident of winning the Balung state seat for the Barisan Nasional (BN) despite being a newcomer to the local political scene.

He based his confidence on response and feedback after visiting several places in Balung over the past few days.

“But as we all know, some of them are loyal to their party. We will try however, try to get the fencesitters of the Balung state seat,” he said yesterday after meeting with the members of the media.

Osman said he would try to do a proper programme of his visits and campaign so that the media can keep in touch.

Osman, who has been in the civil service for 38 years, said that Balung can be a second city after Tawau as it has the areas that could be developed socio-economically once the Pan Borneo highway project is completed.

He said his focus will be on infrastructure, utility, education, health, skills and environment.

On the first thing he will do should he win, Osman said he will develop housings and introduce the MyBN Home (My Beautiful New Home) which will cost RM60,000, of which RM30,000 will be subsidized and purchasers need only to pay RM30,000 or RM200 per month.

He said he would also propose for the PPR Balung to be rentand-own instead of rent only as of now.

“If you talk about development, you cannot talk about Balung only. We must have something new for Tawau,” he said, adding that there is already a masterplan for the southern region.

Osman added he should be able to plan better now after he has ironed out several issues and will have more programmes before the polling date.
