Putatan to have entrepreneur centre soon
PUTATAN:
The constituency here will have an entrepreneur centre soon.
According to incumbent Putatan parliament member Datuk Dr Marcus Makin Mojigoh, the centre will train single mothers, people with disabilities, pensioners and youths who are keen on going into business.
He said a site had already been identified for the centre.
“We are now in a stage of preparing the site,” he said.
The centre is located near the Integrated Agriculture Centre near here.
At the same time, Mojigoh also urged the people not to listen to fake news that are being spread over social media.
He asked the people to check the facts first since there are irresponsible individuals trying to wreck havoc and mislead members of the public into believing their lies.
“Their aim is to make the people hate the government and to sway voters into making the wrong choice when voting,” he said.
He reminded that the Barisan Nasional government has not stopped from helping those in need in the country.
“BN is a people-centric government. Every year it provides assistance to help people living in dilapidated houses. It also looks after the welfare of the people,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mojigoh, is still the preferred choice for many people in Putatan.
Ary Octavia, 17, who is a student said she knew Mojigoh because he frequently went to her school to deliver speeches that motivated her to work hard.
“He would call on us, the students, to study hard so that we would have a brighter future,” she said.
Ary added that she had heard he was highly educated and aspired to be like him one day.
“He is my idol...I hope to represent the people just like him one day,” she said.
Ary also said as a leader representing the people, Mojigoh had the necessary personality that equipped him for the job.
“He is naturally friendly and he likes being with people, talking with them and listening to them.”
She hoped that if Mojigoh managed to be re-elected again, he would help students like herself acquire a scholarship to further her studies, as well as help lighten the load of parents with school going children.
Security officer Kaseh Haji Tawi, 49, is proud of the vast development that Putatan has undergone since 2004, which was when Mojigoh began functioning as a parliament member for the constituency.
He also said Mojigoh’s down to earth approach in dealing with the people had enabled the people to have easy access to him.
“We can see him face-to-face to air our problems. He always listens and tries to help.”
Menjuan Atong, 80, said he would support Mojigoh because he had brought so much pride to the Kadazan community due to his contributions.
“He has done so much. I am very proud of him,” he said.
Additionally, he also said Mojiogh liked elderly folks and was good to them.
And Maisin Amoi, 52, an airline employee said Putatan had not experienced any shortage of development.
“Whatever we asked for, we received,” he said.
“Our old row of shops are now replaced with high-rise buildings. Everything just boomed.”
