Syed Saddiq's campaign banners vandalised in Muar

-

MUAR: Photographs of Muar parliamentary candidate, Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, have been defaced by vandals.

The two photographs on large campaign banners in Parit Bakar here were smeared with black paint while several PKR flags were damaged.

Campaign worker Hidayah Shaziman said they discovered the vandalised banners two days ago.

"We also suspect that several flags were deliberately pulled down," she said when met here on Wednesday (May 2).

Meanwhile, Syed Saddiq said in a video on his Twitter account that he was disappointed by the incident.

"There are a lot of Barisan Nasional posters and flags in front of my house in Lembah Pandang here but I have not taken down even one," he said.

He added the incident was an act of desperation by some quarters or those who feel threatened by his candidacy here.

"We want to bring mature politics and I will rise above this," he said.

Syed Saddiq will be facing three-term Barisan MP Datuk Seri Razali Ibrahim and Abdul Aziz Talib of PAS in a threecornered fight for the seat.

Last Sunday, Barisan Nasional candidate for the Bakri parliamentary seat Koh Chon Chai lodged a police report after six of his banners were vandalised while 30 flags went missing.
