Sabahans help lessen dependency on foreign workforce in Johor

-

JOHOR BAHRU: The presence of Sabahans in the industrial area of Johor, especially Pasir Gudang, has lessened the industry's dependency on foreign workforce.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said although they were only minorities, they had a huge impact in meeting workforce demands in the industrial area, as well as helping to boost the state's economy.

“We acknowledge the role and the importance of the presence of the Sabahan community in Pasir Gudang. They have become an important part of our state, especially in meeting the workforce demands of industries.

“Due to our concern and aim of becoming an effective people's representative, the state government led by Barisan Nasional (BN) will continue going to the ground to meet with the community, not just making seasonal visits like the opposition.

“The opposition will not be able to understand the actual needs of the Sabahan community with their uncaring attitude,” he said during the Sabahan Community Carnival@Johor here yesterday.

The menteri besar also expressed hope that the Sabahan community would continue supporting the BN and translate their support into votes for the coalition in the May 9 polls to enable the party to continue serving all the people and the state.

Mohamed Khaled also ensured that the Sabahan community would also not be sidelined in Johor and that they would be able to enjoy the benefits of development like other communities in Johor.

Meanwhile, Persatuan Suluk Bersatu Sabah president Faisal Sisar assured that the Sabahan community strongly supported the leadership of Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin as Johor Menteri Besar.

“We are aware of attempts to shake our confidence in the Menteri Besar's leadership in view of the general election, but we are grateful for his deeds and will not easily be swayed by the claims made by the opposition parties,” he said. - Bernama
