SEREMBAN: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi told all component parties in Barisan Nasional (BN) to help and ensure victory for the coalition’s candidates contesting in the 14th General Election GE14) this Wednesday, regardless of the party they belong to.

Citing the Seremban parliamentary seat, where Datuk Chong Sin Woon, from MCA, is contesting, Ahmad Zahid said, all component parties in BN, including Umno, should work together to capture the seat.

“In the BN spirit, there are candidates from Umno, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, Sabah and Sarawak. In Perak, I have Chinese and Indian voters, but Umno is contesting with our friends in the coalition helping us.

“Therefore, Umno candidates cannot be left on their own, like wise the MCA candidates,” he said in his speech at a programme with the leader here yesterday.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also BN deputy chairman, said a strong spirit of teamwork and cooperation should exist in BN to ensure continuous success for the coalition.

He said he wanted BN to wrest back the Seremban parliamentary seat in GE14.

“Syamsul, (Amri Ismail-candidate for Sikamat state seat) help Ah Chong because I see him having the material as a minister, as well as has extraordinary courage (to face Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman Anthony Loke Siew Fook). Do not leave Ah Chong on his own.

“Although he is a senator and appointed as Deputy Education Minister, I always monitor him... Ah Chong is among the high performing deputy ministers in the Dewan Rakyat.

“Before, people say he come in through the back door (made deputy minister) and now, with his high performance, let Ah Chong comes in through the front door,” he said.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Umno vice-president performing the duties of the party deputy president, said Chong, besides having the potential of wresting back the Seremban parliamentary seat from MCA, also had the potential to be MCA president.

The deputy prime minister, who is also Home Minister, also said he wanted all internal bickering in the BN component parties to stop immediately before May 9.

“Set aside all differences among parties, because (by doing so), it will help BN to win,” he said.
