Don’t choose non-performer and party-hopper, Likas voters urged

-

KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) secretary general Senator Datuk Yong Wui Chung yesterday urged Likas constituents to cast their votes based on the qualifications and track record of candidates to avoid a repeat of choosing a nonperforming and party-hopping elected representative.

Yong, who is also LDP’s election campaign director for the west coast of Sabah, said Barisan Nasional (BN) Likas state seat candidate Datuk Chin Shu Ying had never given up on the constituency in the past five years despite having lost the seat in the 13th General Election (GE13).

Instead, he said Chin had doubled his effort to bring improvements to the people and Chinese education in Likas.

Yong believed that Chin, if elected as Likas state assemblyman, could contribute more towards the betterment of the constituency because the latter was familiar with the people’s livelihood issues, education and economy in the area.

“Apart from community issues, Chin is attuned to the issues in Chinese education, given that he is the chairman of both the Board of Governors of SJK(C) Chung Hwa Likas and Sabah Chinese Kindergarten Boards Association.

“Electing Chin as the representative of Likas will greatly benefit the Chinese schools in Sabah.

“He could serve as a bridge between Chinese schools and the State Government to secure more resources for primary and secondary schools, as well as reflect Chinese education issues to the government.”

Hence, Yong urged the people to support LDP candidates for them to form a strong team in pursuing the interests of Sabahans.

“Under the leadership of LDP president cum caretaker Minister of Special Tasks Datuk Seri Panglima Teo Chee Kang, our party will continue to speak up for Sabahans and be the guardian of the Chinese community.”
