Former Warisan member leads 300 to BN

-

KOTA KINABALU: About 300 voters from the Kolam Ayer polling district in Inanam have pledged their support for Barisan Nasional (BN) this 14th general election.

Led by former Parti Warisan Sabah Sepanggar division committee member Martin Malubi, they have thrown their support to BN's Sepanggar candidate, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan.

Martin told a press conference yesterday that the 300 voters with him were mostly former supporters of Warisan.

“We are bored and tired of confrontational and personal politics as it does not benefit the rakyat. We have decided to support BN, which has a candidate who is good and serves the rakyat,” he said.

Martin added that they were not happy with Warisan's choice of candidate for Sepanggar, Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman.

On the other hand, the division chief of Warisan Sepanggar had worked hard for two years to set up the division and branches in the area, he pointed out.

“But sadly he was not the party's choice for candidate,” he lamented, claiming that Warisan president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal had earlier promised them in person that the candidate for Sepanggar would be someone from the area.

However, according to Martin, they have not yet decided to join BN through any of its component parties yet.

"We will have a meeting after the election to decide on which party to join," he said.

When it was pointed out that Abdul Rahman was also not from Sepanggar, Martin replied, “But he lives in Sepanggar and he is from Tuaran - the proximity is there if we need anything, unlike the Warisan candidate who is from another district.”
