Be prepared to face opposition ‘attack’ in final 48 hours – Zahid

-

BAGAN DATUK: With only 48 hours to campaign until the polling day on May 9, the Barisan Nasional (BN) machinery are urged to be prepared for a surprise ‘attack’ from the opposition and to take advantage of the period to gain support from the grassroots.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he ‘noticed’ that the opposition was concealing something as the campaign period entered the ninth day yesterday.

“Anything can happen on both sides, either the opposition or the BN, within the next remaining 48 hours. Do not look back, left or right, until we get to the finish line. If we work hard and wisely to win the minds and hearts of the people so that they continue to stay with BN. All machinery need to go out to the voters... Beside focusing on hardcore BN voters, we need to reach the fence sitters and it will be a bonus to (BN),” said Ahmad Zahid, who is also BN deputy chairman, at a press conference after attending a programme with the Indian community, organised by MyPPP here yesterday.

Ahmad Zahid also urged all the BN machinery of Jalinan Rakyat (JR) Plus, Youth, Puteri, media and machinery at the district polling centres (PDM) to intensify the efforts as it would be the final round before reaching the finish line on midnight on May 8. That apart, he said BN’s approach was to campaign in small groups, faceto-face interactions and through conventional and online media. He said the opposition would love to launch last-minute attacks with various defamation and lies.

“Just wait for the action from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Royal Malaysia Police... And this is not a warning as action will be taken against them,” said Ahmad Zahid, adding that he believed the silent majority was with BN in the GE14.
