Tabung Haji subsidiary wins ‘Best New Hotel Construction’ and ‘Design Award’
KOTA KINABALU: TH Properties Sdn Bhd won the five-star award for the second year running in the Asia Pacific Property Awards 2018–2019 ceremony.
The subsidiary of Lembaga Tabung Haji was announced as the winner in the Best New Hotel Construction and Design Award category for the TH Hotel and Convention Centre KLIA project, thus being recognised as Malaysia’s best in that category.
The award follows the double wins by TH Properties last year when the group bagged three five-star awards for its projects, namely TH Hotel and Convention Centre Kuching (for the Best New Hotel Construction and Design category), Putrajaya Islamic Complex (for the Best Office Development category) and Bay Pavilions in Sydney, Australia (for the Best Apartment category).
TH Hotel and Convention Centre Kuching also won an international and Asia Pacific award in the same category during the International Property Awards 2017–2018 held in London, UK in December last year.
By winning the award, TH Hotel and Convention Centre Kuching was recognised as the best in the world for the New Hotel Design and Construction category.
TH Hotel and Convention Centre KLIA, which is being built on a 17.725-acre site, will have a fourstar hotel operated by Movenpick Hotels & Resorts, viewing gallery, convention centre encompassing a haj operations centre, and exhibition space.
The syariah-compliant hotel offers 333 rooms and other hotel facilities such as separate swimming pools for men and women, children’s playground, gym, spa and four cafés and restaurants The banquet hall in the complex could accommodate 2,500 guests and its 10 seminar rooms has a capacity of 15 to 20 people per room.
The complex has targeted a score of 68 or silver rating for the Green Building Index. The complex will replace the Kelana Jaya Hajj Complex, which has been operating for 36 years, as the operations centre and departure complex for Hajj pilgrims.
Asia Pacific Property Awards is one of the components of the International Property Awards, which recognises excellence in terms of design, construction quality and presentation of individual property projects and also property development, design and marketing by companies throughout the world.
The prestigious property award covers Africa, United States of America, Asia Pacific, Arabia, Canada, Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe and UK.
