-

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 738 polling stations in Sabah will be used for the 14th General Election today.

A survey carried out at some of the schools that would serve as polling stations here showed that lessons continued as usual during the morning.

When contacted, a representative from the Election Commission said that they were making all the final preparations at the polling stations yesterday.

Meanwhile, caretaker Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman would be casting his vote at SK Rancangan Sg Manila in Sandakan, while his three Deputy Chief Ministers, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin and Datuk Seri Panglima Raymond Tan Shu Kiah would be casting their votes at SK Pekan in Tambunan, SMK Tansau in Petagas and Tanjung Papat, Sandakan respectively.

There are 1,117,337 registered voters in Sabah, out of which 24,187 were early voters. The number of postal voters was not known at the time of writing as the Election Commission has yet to receive the exact figures from the returning officers.

Caretaker Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili would be casting his vote at SMK Kota Marudu.

He said that he is confident of retaining the P168 Kota Marudu seat and N5 Tandek and as a bonus, recapture N.4 Matunggong for Barisan Nasional (BN) today.

He attributed this to the support and collaboration from all component parties in BN, namely Umno, Upko, PBRS, MCA and LDP.

He said this at the presentation of the PANTAS (Sabah Native Land Services) Land Title for Mukim Marak Parak in Kota Marudu yesterday.

Ceasar Mandela Malakun, who is the BN candidate for the Penampang parliamentary seat, would be casting his vote at SK St Aloysius, Limbanak at 8am.
