Coleman, Reynold winners

Coleman Octovo and Reynold Kok emerged as winners of the Kaamatan DBKK Strong Man and Kaamatan DBKK Men’s Physique compe on respec vely held concurrent­ly at Padang Merdeka on Saturday.

KOTA KINABALU: Coleman Octovo and Reynold Kok emerged as winners of the Kaamatan DBKK Strong Man and Kaamatan DBKK Men’s Physique competitio­n respective­ly held concurrent­ly at Padang Merdeka here on Saturday.

Coleman collected a total of 44.5 points to win the novice strong man competitio­n, which featured four classic strong man challenges.

The man from Tambunan won the Tyre Flip (250kg) and Truck Pull (three tonne lorry) challenges, while in the Dead Lift (140kg) and Loading Race (4 x 70kg) he was joint second and third, respective­ly.

Second overall was Rudolf Austin Lim with 41.5 points, while third was Leonard Climaco with 39.5 points. Edward Jiun Jr was fourth (35.5) while Rahwan Roslan (32.5) completed the top five placing.

A total of 12 people took part in the strong man event which was organised by Kota Kinabalu City Hall and coordinate­d by Casero Events Sdn Bhd.

In the physiques competitio­n, Reynold was crowned the overall winner after clinching the champion-of-champions title.

En route to the finale, the muscle man from Putatan won the 170cm and above category before facing the winner of the 170cm and below category, Terrence Watis from Membakut, in the showdown. Chai Fook On won the Best Poser award.

Meanwhile, competitio­n coordinato­r, Steve Johnny Mositun, thanked all the participan­ts and sponsors for making the events successful.

He also recorded his appreciati­on to City Hall Kaamatan Festival committee chairman Stanley Chong and Aderen Yagang as well as Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai.
