Opposition calls BR1M chicken feed

-

SANDAKAN: Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman has criticised an opposition party for calling BR1M (1Malaysia People’s Aid) ‘dedak’, which means food for chickens.

In a way it is calling the rakyat chickens that are fed with ‘dedak’.

Musa said that the opposition is heartless for calling BR1M ‘dedak’ as there is nothing wrong with the aid.

“How could they call BR1M ‘dedak’? What ‘dedak’? BR1M is the government’s money to be given to the people. What is wrong with that? There is nothing wrong with BR1M. It is good for the rakyat,” he said during a meetthe-people session at Gum Gum mile 16 here on Tuesday.

He also said that Barisan Nasional (BN) is receiving overwhelming response from all over Sabah.

“In every place I visit in Sabah, the people’s response is great. The places were like blue ocean, with BN flags and supporters crowding the places.

“I believe BN and the opposition parties have really big difference. We have the track record; we have proofs that we had brought development to Sabah, while they do not,” he added.

In a press conference held later, Musa said that today is an important day for Malaysians. He urged the rakyat to go to vote and practise their democratic right.

“I hope everything will go smoothly,” he said.

At the end of the programme, 268 members of Parti Warisan Sabah from six branches in Libaran and 250 members of Parti Reformasi Negeri (STAR) from four branches in Libaran announced before Musa that they quit their respective parties to join BN.

Some members went on stage, took off official shirts of their former party, and showed that they were then wearing the blue BN shirts.

Also present at the event were candidates of Gum Gum state seat, Datuk Juslie Ajirol and Libaran parliamentary seat, Datuk Zakaria Edris.
